Kelvin has a varied practice working in resource management and civil and commercial litigation. He represents clients in litigation in the District and High Courts, Court of Appeal, the Environment Court, Employment Court, Land Valuation Tribunal and before other administrative tribunals and local authorities.
Kelvin represents clients involved in district and regional planning matters including plan reviews, resource consenting, compliance and enforcement issues. Kelvin’s practice has included representing many rural enterprises including farmers, industry groups and irrigations companies in the issues facing their businesses.
Prior to commencing practice as a Barrister in 2011, Kelvin practiced with the Christchurch Law firm Goodman Tavendale Reid and was chairman of the firm from 2005 to 2010.
Kelvin regularly deals with complex litigation involving technical and scientific issues and represented the Christchurch City Council in the Royal Commission of Inquiry in to the collapse of the CTV Building.
Kelvin has an interest in law reform and is a regular contributor to government law reform proposals particularly in resource management. In 2011 Kelvin was a member of the technical advisory group advising the Minister for the Environment on reform of the Resource Management Act.
